Hello from Roxy!

We're surfing along at speeds between 12 and 15 knots, with a blue sky,
fluffy clouds and 18 knots of wind.

The night was difficult for me, strategy-wise! All the routing software,
and my feeling said that we should gybe north to invest in some North,
as the wind is stronger and a better angle for the rest of the route.
But it is really hard to gybe away from the direct route, knowing that I
will loose miles in the "scoreboard". Hopefully these lost miles will be
temporary and I will gain more distance later from being in a favourable
postion.

It is doubly hard, as I am being "hunted" by Yannik on Cervin, and the
timing for the gybe was during the "blackout" hours of the night when we
don't receive position reports, so I couldn't see where he was. But,
equally, he could not see my moves either.

I even asked Godfrey (my flying fish) but he really had no idea,
although he liked the thought of trying port gybe for a while just
because he had never done that before!

So, here we are, to the North of the "old boats" fleet, and LESS THAN
1000 miles to go! That's great because now the "miles to go" are
displayed on my cockpit instruments to spur me on towards the finish. At
these speeds, those miles tick off satisfyingly quickly too.

Now I am going to try to repair my torch. Having a boat that is so
reliable and solid (touch wood) means that there is no repairing,
rebuilding, inventing to do. I'm not complaining, but it's funny to have
so little to do that I have to keep myself busy with silly little things
like my torch!!!!
