The last few hours of the race differ according to where you’re at in the fleet and in your head of course. These are sensations direct from the middle of the fleet, around four hours before the leader of the fleet takes ultimate victory, torn between wanting to be ashore too and wanting to stay out at sea....

Reasons to get there:

1. To see my cheri

2. To beat Yannick Bestaven

3. To get ROXY into refit as quickly as possible

4. To be able to go to sleep for 12 hours non stop. In my bed!

 

 

 

Reasons to stay out here:

1. To keep sailing, having fun!

2. It's much hotter here than there

3. Ditto for the rain!

4. To avoid Christmas shopping

 

 

 

Things I am looking forward to:

1. My cheri

2. My bathroom - bath, shower, products, heated towel rail, toilet with a flush, mirror....

3. A cold beer (plural!)

4. A cup of Earl Grey tea in a china mug with real milk 4. Wearing nice clothes

5. La boulangerie

6. Reading girly magazines

 

 

 

Things I'm not looking forward to:

1. My mobile phone

2. My accounts session and doing all the expenses receipts

3. Not being able to go sailing on Roxy for 3 months

4. Walking (because I have no leg muscles left!)

 

 

 

Things I'll miss:

1. The night sky with no light pollution

2. Eating as much chocolate as I like without anyone seeing!

3. Godfrey (my flying fish)

4. The solitude

5. This list is endless......
