The race is open to the Imoca class 60’ monohulls. It is sailed non-stop, single-handed, without outside help. It is a qualifying event for the most prestigious solo sailing event : the 2008-2009 Vendee Globe. The Ecover-BtoB Transat will take place after the Transat Jacques Vabre. The start will take place in Bahia on November 29th 2007. The first boats are expected in Port-La-Forêt 16 to 18 days after the start. The race is organised by Mer et Projets, under the authority of the French sailing Federation and with the assistance of  Philippe Facque as Race Director.

The IMOCA class is supporting the race in various ways, and will make sure that the competitors comply with the class rules. The race is supported by the Brittany region, the Finistere district, and the Port-La-Foret commune. The radio sessions with the competitors will take place on the Brittany region stand during the Paris Boat Show (Dec 1st – Dec 9th).
